Safari, generally, works the same way as Firefox.
Try re-ordering your link styles - there IS a proper order they must be in:
Link, Visted, Hover, Active - just remember LoVeHAte.
Try that and see if it works.

I don't see your issue on that bug list though.
You've got some overkill in your CSS for menu, but I hardly think that should cause this problem. By overkill I mean:
you have ul#menu li when just #menu li would suffice since #menu IS a UL in this case.
