Honestly? Just worry about Google and the rest will come naturally...

Don't waste time submitting to loads of search engines. Get your links well placed on sites that are regularly spidered by Google (such as this site) and you will get listed in the most important search engine.

Sounds like a plan...

Just the way I like it to, nice and easy and straight to the point.

Jim the best search engines to rank well in are the ones your customers use.

The four major engines are Google, Yahoo!, MSN, and Ask. AOL is probably #5, though they get results from Google.

After those four it's about meta search engines and specialty engines.

Also know that you don't need to submit your site to any of the search engines and that each engine uses different algorithms to determine what pages rank for what query. Doing well in one doesn't necessarily mean you will do well in the others. It might, but it doesn't have to.

Google naturally can drive the most traffic, but you may find that MSN traffic spends the most money on your site. If that's the case it probably becomes more important to do well with MSN even if it means doing less well with Google.
