I am busting a hump submitting to sites for inclusion and I wondered for the sake of a few bucks should I get a submission company to submit for me?

It would save me weeks worth of time if I could get loads of links but I think it is a risk. Will I my site get blacklisted for autosubmits? Do they actually work or is it just another snake oil sale?

This is not an invitation to SPAM this thread with wonderful tales of submission companies, so please give me sensible replies!!

Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google
Thats from google's site (http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html). Says you shouldn't use unauthorized programs so I guess 'authorized' programs are ok?? I dunno just thught it might be helpfule... I usually use Web CEO and do some manually..

There really is no need to submit your site at all. If it is optimized decently, the search engines will find you. The paid for submit sites usually subkit with a program or to hundreds of FFA sites. We offer submission on our site just to satisfy customers who want to submit no matter what. But it really is not necessary. save your cash

I agree, there are only few worth submitting and paying for.
I would submit to DMOZ and Yahoo! ($299 but worth it)
You can also go for some places such as Jayde, Joe Ant and Skaffe.

But the best you can do is link with semi related sites that are well established in the search engines.

You might want to submit manually instead of wasting the money. At least you know if the submissions are done and completed.
