Social bookmarking faster and easier but I think article marketing gets you better long-term backlinks. They're also worth more. That said I think it's a good idea to do both.

Nope link exchange is still in trend but you should exchange with relevant websites and having good PR as well.

Generally search engines index forums so posting in forums and blogs is also a way to get quality backlinks with the anchor text you want. If the forum or blog is a respected one, a backlink is valuable.

However, in some cases the forum or blog administrator can edit your post, or even delete it if it does not fit into the forum or blog policy. Also, sometimes administrators do not allow links in posts, unless they are relevant ones.

Well one fact on backlinks is that it is more effective if you link your site to a site that is relevant to yours. It makes the link more credible and much more recognized, in my opinion.

See this is one of those 64,000 dollar questions..honestly I feel like social networking is both a gift and curse..most social sites tend to shorten or manipulate your link from its original format. Perfect example of this is twitter and its bit or tinyurl formatting which changes the character of your link.

My suggestion would be to continue to focus on the content and engage your followers on these networks in order to get them talking versus taking a hundred hours posting on forums. A personal referral of your site is the best way to get a backlink when you have share options available on your site.

The best possible backlinks you can ever build are those that are relevant to your site. Participate in relevant forums with good PR. You can generate tons of BLs from doing that.

hello,

you can link your site through blog commenting. blogs to comment on should be related to your site and that your comment should also be related to the topic of the blog. Linking in dofollow blogs with high page rank is good..

Good content is still considered as one of the major steps of SEO. So you must have an unique and fresh content. Unless you're having that no webmaster would be interested to link back your site. Another important step is PR. If you have a site with high PR and good content I think webmasters should agreed to link your site. Try to get backlinks from niche sites. Do blogging and post in do follow blogs and forums. Also do social networking for your site. Definitely you'll achieve good result. Don't get impatient. It'll certainly take time but will definitely give you positive results.

Link exchange is still working but the most powerful is the content: blogging, article submission, Q&A sites like yahoo answers, etc..
