I saw occasional accesses in my log of what had to really be a robot, but merely showed up as bing searches. They were crawling a 1000 times slower than yahoo and google and all of the usual robotic suspects.
Will they speed up? I hope so. It'd be nice to have more sources of traffic.
Yahoo has recently been soaring - I estimate they have gone from a 5% measure (against google's traffic) to a 20% measure - maybe in a few months I'll have more accurate data and can tell better if it really is that much, but it does look, at the moment, with 40+ days of data, as though yahoo is having a big surge - that they've tripled their business in the last 3 months or so, since the fiasco with microsoft, google and some fat gits trying to buy them and tell them to change their name to facebook probably and adopt a new policy of being arses.
So although I'm pleased to see bing existing and making a bit of extra income for us who must be obeyed I'm far more keen to discover how much profit yahoo is adding to my life. If I were a venture capitalist with billions, today I'd have gone to a broker and probably been tempted into buying £100,000 of yahoo shares. If I had any microsoft shares, bing is no reason to not sell them - I'd buy into yahoo ahead of microsoft any day.
But I'd have a long look at sun, ibm, and a few other institutions related to O.S. software and stuff. And security - internet security - an absolutely certain investment - I'd find 10 companies and buy 10k of shares from each.
