I was just wondering what the best way is to see how you rank in Search engines??? I'm sorry if this has been covered many times but I could not find it. You could just point me on to the right topic if there is one that I missed (i am very tired ).

My Site is pretty high up there but I just want to make sure. For example search for pretty much anything with planted tank in it such as planted tank articles, planted tank board, planted tank fish, etc... and I rank pretty high.

Thank you!
Kyle

Not sure about the accuracy of that. I tried one and it said I wasn't in the top 50 for any of the search engines, even though I know that for the particular term I used I am at number 2 in Google.

Personally, I think the best ways are to:
a) Go to the search engines and search for the terms
b) Check your referrer logs and see what terms people are using to find your site and how you rank for them.

Yep that is what I found David. I searched for my site with the terms planted tank. However none of them I showed up being in the top 50 however I am in the top 10 for most of them. I guess manually is the best way to go.

Yea, sorry about that. The script does not work like it is supposed to anymore. I need to update that site.

You guys are right I just used the first thing that popped into my head. (I also happened to be looking at the links on the bottom of the page) Manually searching for your site is the best and most accurate way.

Hi Fender,

I agree with David and Criper2000. The best and most efficient way is to simply go to the major search engines yourself and look for those terms. Honestly, I can't see the point of going to 30 search engines, since there really are only 3 or 4 main ones, with Google being far ahead of the rest, right?

what did you search with xpguy? did you go to google and search for your keyword? cause if you did and it didn't appear in the top 10, then it isn't in the top 10!

the google index will be refreshing in the next few days...so keep your eyes open for ranking changes!! good luck to you all...

I would recommend going to www.copernic.com and install a free evaluation version of their software (Copernic Agent Basic I think). It's excellent. Then you can do a search for your website and at least see which search engines are picking up on it. Shows all leading search engines plus gives accuracy rating etc. Check it out!....you'll see what I mean.

ciao,
Damascus
