Different number of backlinks in Yahoo

Hi,

While checking on my site for backlinks in yahoo, I found link: linkdomain: show different results for my site

Can any one guide me about why

link:www.mydomain.com

and

linkdomain:www.mydomain.com

show different number of backlinks and why there are a large diff in no of backlinks.

because link: shows backlinks to the "home" page ONLY and linkdomain: shows "deep" links AND "home" page links.
