How to have a good rank in alexa?

Hi there

I have noted that my websites are very well ranked in yahoo and google, the daily visit are quite good (best in years) but my rank in alexa is very very low and going down.... how this is possible?

Because alexa doesn't report on anything useful. You just get traffic stats for the very small number of people who have the alexa toolbar installed.

The bit I bolded is the important stuff

Yes. There are a lot of biases with alexa ranking system. But is it the only web ranking system we have?

Most of the time the alexa ranking are manipulated, there are many ways to influence the ranking but consider more on building regular targeted traffic that will help you eventually.

Never mind Alexa. Don't rely on any external metrics, especially those based on toolbars. As soon as webmasters and SEO wannabes discover them, they attempt to manipulate the rankings in any way possible.

Here's an example of just how easy it is to raise your Alexa ranking (and accomplish nothing in the process.)

Here's a Googler's (quite correct) interpretation of Alexa data.

Pretty well all other metrics (PageRank, Compete.com, Technorati Authority) that are external are subject to the same idiotic manipulation.

I have had my traffic go up and up and my alexa rank goes down and down its crap there is no logic to what is happing only that alexa is crap.

I got my rank up to 120,000 now its 220,000

Alexa is an inaccurate tool to check website's traffic.

Anyways having their script code used in every page of yours will increase your page loads with alexa and this can help in increasing the rankings.

To get a good rank in Alexa, appeal to the sort of people that have the Alexa toolbar installed (like bloggers and other webmasters). However, I've heard that Alexa isn't really a great way to judge a web site. I'd really be going by how well your goal is being accomplished.

Alexa calculates based on the searched done by people who are using Alexa tool bar...so it produces the inaccurate ranks...but its the only tool recognized to give some rank for a website based on its traffic

Recently alexa had announced that it has changed its algorithm for allotting rank

I am pretty sure that lately the new algorithm in Alexa ranking has included Search engine searches along with the toolbar using visitors into consideration, for ranking websites.
