PageRank is a measure of Google's perception of page importance.

I think that Page Rank can lose it's gathering if they keep trying to add restrictions to it...People won't stay with Google if they keep kicking Webmaster's in the testicles because we are there targeted audience without us there would be no them...And I am sure they know that.

Google will end up popular regardless of PageRank if you ask me...

Of course they will, real people (Googles users) don't care about PR, they don't care about backlink counts and such. What they care about is finding answers to the queries.
Try it yourself one day, pretend you are NOT involved in the insular website world, turn off the silly green bar and look for something other than a site to beg links from, or what you think your "competitor" is doing, or where your site ranks for some semi useless phrase. Just be a real Google user for a little while.

BUT the webmasters, site operators/owners, SEOs etc are NOT Googles target audience for the SERPs.
