I have a website (www.trafficforless.com) that used to rank PR6, ranked #1 for many keywords.

This site was hit by Google Slap and it went straight to PR0, losing it's ranking.

So, since then, I have been trying to rebuild it.

I have:
1) Revamped the website with new web design
2) Submitted to various directories for backlinks
3) Submitted articles for backlinks
4) Create Press Release for the new web design
5) Ensure 'white hat' coding in all my pages
6) Have all the basic SEO requirements (meta tags, H1, etc.)
7) Submitted Google sitemap and it is accepted and spidered

Currently, this website:
1) 54 backlinks, with good combination of various PR backlinks
2) Google visits my site at least once a week

However, Google:
1) Seems to list only 2 webpages site:www.trafficforless.com
2) Website even ranked in first 5 pages

Frankly speaking, I'm stumped.

Are there other things that I am missing?

well, what can i say, i have no idea... my site is online since spring, has lots of good content and so, but i still have no rank from Google, that's strange, my other sites got PR3 just only for being online for couple of months without almost any content..

The answer may not be on your page right now, but it was likely there before.

http://web.archive.org/web/200604271...icforless.com/

Down at the bottom, it says:
Quote:
If you want to trade links, you can visit Automated Links Exchange (hyperlinked) for more details.
You also had a "Resources" page at some point, which may well have been the same type of thing.

I think you've figured out by now that link exchange is all but dead from the pure SEO standpoint (some idiots try triangular network exchange or co-op or other BS but it always gets found out). But at the time, you went along with prevailing SEO and traffic logic which dictates that you're supposed to exchange links with everything under the sun because it increases PR which is the be-all and end-all of website marketing.

In other words, you bought into the myth, you likely got caught, and just plain fixing your code and removing the offending pages/links isn't gonna do it. You're going to have to show that your site has changed and that it offers something unique (which, as it stands right now, it doesn't do either.)

Unless you're willing to slough it out and wait for what could be a very long time and be a good boy in the process, you've likely sunk your site.

I think I want to 'retire' this old domain name and use a new one. I think the time spend will be more worthwhile.

What I want to do is that I will redirect the old domain name to the new domain name.

The new domain name will use the same design of my old domain name.

Will it work? Any implications?

Like what kind of quality links?

It's already in DMOZ and many major directories.

Do you have any recommended directories and I can try?

Get links from people who think your content is worthy of linking to.

I had the same problem with a site but tossed the domain name and started afresh. It was quicker and easier this way although I didn't have the quantity of backward links that you have plus Google obviously hasn't banned you since it has found a couple of your pages.

Might be just a case of wait and see.

Well

The only reason i can find for your site being condemed by google algorithms is that you may be using practices(blackhat) to promote your site that has been trapped by google know.

so i think if you try working on your site with much of white hat practices and theme related link backs you will sure get a good pr next update.

The reason to move to a new domain would be to hide from Google. The reason to set up a redirect would be to be found by Google.
