Okay... I'm very frusterated right now becuase I can't seem to get my site listed on google for the life of me. my web address is www.buildsize.com.

I offer weight gain information to thin people and therefore I need to be seen when people type in the most popular search terms (wich are GAIN WEIGHT and BUILD MUSCLE). I've enen done a lot of research on how to get a high ranking but I don't rank AT ALL. My meta tags are opimized according to http://www.seomasters.com/meta-tag-analyzer/

and I've optimized other parts of my page as well (keyword density, using H1 tags, getting inbound links to my site etc)

I just can't figure out why I won't list for my most important search terms..

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I would love to be able to pay a SEO company to do this for me but they are all so expensive. If anyone knows of an affordable company please send me a link.

thanks alot

p.s. - I should have told you before that my website is listed in googles directory but the only search terms I can find my web site with are "build size" I need to be able to use "gain weight", "how to gain weight", "how to build muscle" etc.

Thanks again.

Hello,

Just keep doing link exchanges with RELATED sites that are index by google and include your anchor text in the link.
But watch out for bad link exchanges.

Example: you exchanged links with myvitamineplce and they put your link here: http://www.myvitaminplace.com/cgi-bi...myvitaminplace

Guess what, this link exchange is useless as google cannot spider that link. How do I now this? First of all it contains ?'s and &'s and second it is not listed in google. Check it yourself. Go to google.com and search for the link URL. It will tell you: Sorry, no information is available for the URL http://www.myvitaminplace.com/cgi-bi...myvitaminplace

You also did a link exhange with http://www.veganbodybuilding.org on http://www.veganbodybuilding.org/link.htm
this one is good. check if the site is indexed. If it is then google will see you link with the anchor text and will rank you accordingly.

So again: Exchange links with indexed sites with static link pages. Do no exchange links with link farms and FFA pages. Also do not add your link on blogs or guestbooks etc.

I hope that helped,

how did you find out who was linked to me? I know how to do that through google but the reason I'm asking is because you mentioned vegan bodybuilding which doesn't show up when I click on "find sites that link to www.buildsize.com"

did you just check out my links page and then see where I was listed on other peoples web sites?

Also a copule more questions.
1) My links page is growing pretty quickly. Is it a bad idea to have too many links on one page? should I split it up into different link directories.

2) now that I'm in googles directory I don't have to submit my site anymore right?

thanks again

when I'm exchanging links with people is their main page PR the most important or the links page PR where my links is?

I explained in my first post why your link on myvitamineplce is not found in google. Read my first post again.
I personnally wouldn't worry about PR at all. If you think the site is worth a link exchange then do it.

You are listed in Google but I assume you are asking why you are not ranking well. Hostlead's post outlines the most important task.

To find out who is linking to your site in the Google search field type:
link: www.buildsize.com

ALLTHEWEB.COM gives a more accurate look at true backlinks.
Use: buildsize.com -site:buildsize.com

You are not in the Google Directory which uses DMOZ.org

Also, pagerank is passed based on the PR of the "Page" your link is placed on. If your link is on a links page (subpage), the PR of that page is what you should be looking at. The PR of the site's homepage place no bearing on your ranking unless you link is on that page.

But as Hostlead said, I would not worry to much about PR and just try and get you links on as many related sites as possible. A high PR is nice for the ego, but won't help you in this new Google algo to much (links (using the right anchor text will) do and as a result, your PR will increase anyway).

I have two PR7 sites that completely dropped off the Google radar after this past update.

I understand the importance of backlinks now (I'm still a far way away from beating the #1 spot). But what I don't understand is how google notices that I have 5 backlinks and the site it recognizes in the #9 position only has 3 backlinks.

I'm just confused becuase I don't show up in the top 500 in the search term "gain weight" and my site seems to be more deserving than other sites (ie. I have more backlinks, my meta tags use the right words, etc).

thanks for all your help so far

Okay! I'm starting to see how this works! Wow these people have a lot of backlinks! sometimes in the tens of thousands! I've been working so hard and all I've manged so far is a total of 5 on google and a grand total of just over 100! Is there ary way other than contacting individual site owners that will speed up the back linking process?

thanks

You do not need 10.000 links. Just do about 200 with your keywords and you should see where you end up. Then if you are in the 30's just keep doing it until your in the top 10.

This is not true. I made considerably money over valentines day by getting an affiliate link to be #1 for flower related searches.

http://www.clareflorist.co.uk/partne....asp?idaff=350 this link has a question mark in it.

Now check these searches.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...end+valentines

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...ntines+flowers

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...ending+flowers

True it can spider addresses with one question mark. Maybe even addresses that are more complex. They are always improving google.

Have you tried using dynamic dns?

Goto http://dynalias.net/, set yourself up an account.
Then you can create a static mapping for each page you want to use.
to visit it depending on what you setup you would do http://drugs.dnsalias.net/
