Hi - any help would be appreciated.

Our website (www.garageconversion.com) is hosted in the UK and we are a UK company. Up until today we were number 1 in both google.com and google.co.uk for the keywords 'garage conversion' and 'garage conversions'.

However we have dropped like a stone from google.co.uk while we still rank top in google.com. All our competitors are unaffected and we haven't changed the website.

Can anyone provide a possible explanation as I can't see any reason for the change in ranking.

Many thanks for any help you can provide

Martin

It's showing up as #1 here on both searches for .co.uk and .com. The only thing I can think of is that you were either hitting a different datacenter within .co.uk (I think there's only one, though...I'm not sure because it's England and to be honest, I don't pay much attention to British SERPs since I don't have a reason to) or you hit a different server within that datacenter.

The other thing that I did notice is that you're exchanging a link with a business directory that won't do you much good. Google's really cracked down on that sort of thing and, while you're only linking to one "exchange partner" that I can see, this can still pose a problem and there may be others (those three tacky links on the bottom for The Media Tank aren't helping either.)

I think G is probably experimenting with where inward links originate. I have had the opposite effect on and off over the last few weeks - some of my .co.uk sites have a lot of .com inward links and they are ranking v well for worldwide searches but not so well for UK only searches. It does make sense really, it's just a bit annoying that G has spotted this anomaly, but then that is what they're all about!!
