Does links in your site help indexing?

This question probably asked before, but I want to know having links to different site can help your site to get indexed?

A total myth. If that would have been the case evryone would have linked to google / yahoo / php.net and would have done better in SE.

SE's like G likes links specially for those relevant one. links will help to get you out on sandbox or to make your site crawl past, specially if you have a quality links, still have credits.

He is not talking about imcoming links but outgoing links I guess.
