Hi everyone,
I have noticed Google is penalyzing .com sites when it comes to their rankings ever since mid-November according to Scroogle.com and a bunch of other resources. We need our .com sites to maintain high rankings since they put food on our tables, just like most companies. Some of our main keywords went from 15th to not in the top 100 for Google! I need to figure out a way around this. I plan on buying a couple of extensions to our current domain such as .info and .org

I plan on hosting new sites with these extensions (.org, .info.). These new sites will provide the public with tons of interesting facts and info that are related to our industry. I believe these sites, since they are not selling anything, may rank a lot higher than my main site. Eventually I will link these sites back to my .com site (the site my check depends on)
Let me know what you all think.....

J

I personally don't think google penalizes .com domains. That wouldn't make any sense.

I am actually getting more visitors since Florida even though I lost quite a few high rankings in google.

I should have used a better term than penalyzes. It seems .org and other extensions are ranked a lot higher now. It may be good in some ways because a lot of our competitors took a big hit along with us. Fortunately we know more about adwords and have three times as many keywords as them. ( they relied on non PPC rankings)

Anyway, I meant to give the resource google.org, not .com. Some of the info seems inaccurate but most of it makes sense.

Thanks,
J

i have some terms i was in top 10 for and now i am not found. Pretty bad for sales. Some sites stayed. I thought they were looking for links to other sites on same IP/server but I have some sites that disprove this theory. I got so crazy searching the search engines every hour I made this:

http://RankWhere.com

to search all engines at once. At least this way i can see the ranking of a site on google msn alta hotbot lycos at the same time so not to do 50000 searches a day.

Even gives Google backlinks.

Next trying to show google pr but it isnt happening.

Cool, rankwhere.com works pretty well! I usually use webposition gold but I like the way that rankwhere works. Good luck in the rankings.....

Rankwhere would be much more interesting - if it actually worked.

It most certainly is not reporting ranking information which I otheriwse know to be correct from manual searches.

actually it works very nicely for me.
Same results as the manual research.
Always keep in mind that the results in google are not always the same.

I, Brain, the search results vary for different geographic locations.

ie. U.S.A. and U.K searches see different results no matter which google you use.

Interesting - I'm getting working results now - before I wasn't ranked for anything or anywhere.

Maybe there was a downed connection at the time?

Either way, something to have fun with now - I'll recommend it on some SEO forums, and see what the feedback is like.
