I can't imagin there being a list of that kind, at least not one that could even be considered extensive. There may be a list that contains a couple of hundred banned sites somewhere though. I would be interested in getting my hands on it too.

I'm not sure if there's a list either. I'm assuming you're looking for one site in particular. You can always just look for that site and see if it shows up in Google. I think there is somewhere on the Google site where you can check to see if a site's been banned, but I'm not really sure where it is. I think you have to dig around to find it. I remember seeing it at some point, but can't really say for certain if it's there.

as far as i know, there is no such list for any search engine.
for example, if our site was listed before and used to appear for some key words,
and now it wont appear in the listing even if we type the entire url,
then we may understand that it is banned.

I'm not sure myself if my site is banned because even after entering all the keywords I think I have strategically placed within the site (totally legal I believe), I'm not getting results at all. Even entering my URL (in my signature below) would not even show up, can anyone think of the reason why?

I do have an Adsense account so I assume Google is indexing my site and I assume my site is legal enough to have an Adsense account. What could be the cause of this non-results? Any suggestions, ideas? Thanks for your help.

Thanks, that post answered what I was afraid of.

One more thing, I have my site in a subdomain, does this hinder SEs from indexing as well? Thanks again.

I don't get it, I can get results fine for MSN and Yahoo with my site domain but with Google, nothing. I put site:torero.vecino.com, absolutely no results. My site has been up only for 4 months. Don't MSN and Yahoo have age delay too?

I think it will take time to crawl your subdomain. Get some backlinks for your subdomain address.

would submitting images in the forum, for example, that is located in your site or server be considered a backlink?

The link in your signature here should be enough for Google to find the site. The more links the easier it will be so you can post more and look for other sources of backlinks like directories.

If the image is also a link back to your site it would count as a backlink.

Excellent answer. That's what I gathered but wasn't sure if SEs discriminate between image and simple text url. Thanks very much.

One more thing, is there a major advantage between having one-way backlink and a reciprocal link? Does that mean if I have links directory with tons of links to external site, would that make my site less appealing to SEs?

One way incoming links are more likely going to be better. Anything that a search might see as something to manipulate results they will likely in time decide to discount Reciprocals can be seen as manipulation though it would depend on what the sites linking to each other are about.

If I have a site selling mountain biking and I trade links with a site about biking trails I would think a search engine would see that as a naturally occurring link. There's obviously good reasons to link those two sites. However if I took that same mountain biking site and traded links with a financial site it would probably be seen as an attempt at manipulation and the links not counted for much.

It's ok to trade links though. People who ride mountain bikes are interested in finances and people in the finances do ride mountain bikes. If the sites got good traffic between them that should be enough to make the trade. Not everything is about search engines.

If the majority of your links or just too many of them are reciprocal links you could have problems with search engines (mostly Google at the moment). They'll probably discount the links so they won't really be doing what you hope they're doing and there's also probably a threshhold beyond which it can hurt your site.

Matt Cutt's talked about the issue of reciprocal links in the Indexing Timeline post on his blog. He'd be more likely to have accurate information than I would, but I think I summarized things ok.

vangogh, thanks for a great response. I see the advantages and disadvantages but not sure what's the best action to take. Being a one site without links to the outside world have no chance of being discovered even if the links are not completely compatible. I do get picky with partners I want to link with.

Thanks again.

It looks like yout links page is linking out to related sites and as long as you stay away from linking to spammy sites you should be ok. I'd still work on gather as many quality one way IBL as you can get. Even with related reciprocal links you probably want your reciprocal links to remain a small part of your overall backlinks.

You do offer what seems like useful content to me in the articles on the site and the blog/journal. Those should be able to attract one way links into your site.

I find often enough with my owb blog I can rank well for long tail keyphrases easily enough and by ranking well for those terms people find and link to the pages. Also the more value you can provide on you site the more likely someone will want to link to you. If your blog say is a good resource for trading tips others in the industry will be more likely to link to it as it will provide value to their visitors.

Link building isn't an overnight process. It generally takes time and really is never ending. The best way to get links is to first build something valuable on your site. It's much easier to attract links to something useful and valuable than it us to attract links to something that's garbage.

Thanks for reviewing my site, I appreciate the time to evaluate it. Yes, it's my personal site but I see if it can benefit others, better. One other idea I was thinking of was offering calculation tools for users (basically to calculate their indicators etc). I'm trying to get them to come back day after day and not one time deal and leave. Reading the FAQs and articles people leave once they're finished. But something for them to come back is probably I'm focusing on. Any other ideas?
