Well, I looked at a PR predictor today for usfkclassifieds.com and it has me going from a PR 3 to a PR 5! I am happy because I simply tried some basic SEO techniques over the past few months. Where did I get the techniques from? I bought a great book (still reading) and read through a few forums! Here are some of the basic techniques I used.

1. Remove all of the extra meta tags! All you need is the title, description and keywords. The rest are a waste of time. For instance, telling the spiders when to revisit? Spiders will revisit when they feel like it. They will not revisit because you tell them to!

2. Stick to 1-2 key word phrases. Forget about key words (single words) and stick to key word phrases that you expect visitors to find your site.

3. Put your key word phrases in the front of your description in your title, description and key words.

4. Keep your keywords to a minimum!

5. Get sites linking in! I now have some 346 sites linking in per Google. I have over 1,000 per MSN. It took time, but it is a growing process.

6. Have a link to your index.html page on every single page of your webpage. Place it on your navigation bar, bottom and top of every page.

7. Create information websites that link to your page. I have a classifieds for people living in Korea. I build a military base guide and linked to my classifieds. I got a lot of traffic and I feel this helped the PR.

8. Don't use frames or javascript!

9. Post on Blogs that have the same theme as you. Make sure you can add your domain! Same goes true for guest books and forums.

Here is what I will be doing to improve on this PR.

1. I will be adding a site map to my site and using the Google Site map feature.
2. Building more doorway pages full of excellent content that will point back to my index.html page.
3. Adding more military guides that will point to my index page
4. Bolding my keyword phrases trough out the site
5. Keeping my key word density to 5%
6. Adding a RSS feed

And a few other trade secrets! I hope this helps.

Mike

But PR is just a factor of incoming links and does not depend on any other factor.

I do find these types of posts strange. It's not really a discussion more giving advise without anyone asking for it.

Their is no suggestion that you have actually achieved anything tangiable, as
shabbirbhimani pointed out the PR predictor mean nothing and even if the PR does go up to 5 that doesn't mean that the site will get any useful traffic.

I half expect to be sold this great book.

The bottom line is whether you are getting increased traffic or not, and the link between PR and traffic is getting more and more tenous. I have a site that dropped from PR7 to PR5 without the traffic being affected. I have a PR2site that get lots of traffic from Google.

However if you sell text ads, PR is very important. I can't help but notice that there are fewer and fewer PR5 sites nowadays, let alone PR6 and PR7

http://www.seochat.com/ has a good one that check G's data centers for PR changes, but it only shows for a few days prior to the main change. This one is accurate.

PR checkers use the RK tag, they are ALL the same, neither is more accurate than the other, some check some databases, while others check all the datacenters of google. Fact is, most of the time its false, as google tests different algorithyms all the time. For example, my site HAD
an RK (Real Pagerank) of 5... so i was going to be PR5, 2 months later, my RK is "Unknown".... do you really believe this can be accurate?

I haven't lost traffic only gained, and gained links too, so i'm confused.

I sometimes look at PR predictors just for a laugh..
My site is PR0 at the moment because it has never seen an update. And the predictions i have had range from 1 to 6, i wish the one that predicted a pr 6 was right, but common sense kicks in and i come to the conclusion they are all completely useless. These things should not be used as an accurate prediction of future page rank.
