Backlinks from relevant sites.

Adwords wont help you get listed on the search engine.

To get listed you only need one link to your site.
To improve pr you need lots of links to yoursite.
To improve general SEO you need content.

Be patient! It typically takes weeks for site to show up after you submit it to Google. Simple type your domain name (www.mysite.com) in the search. If your site doesn't come up, it is not in there yet.
