How long must i have a link before google link popularity check says i have one? I have back links over 20 on msn but still 0 with google. my site is indexed with them but no back links. does it take a long time before google says 'ok its a link' or what is going on?

Google does not show all the backlinks and the link: command in Google is very confusing though it takes into account all the links for the SERP's. If you wish to check the backlinks try using yahoo.

You will drive yourself crazy looking for backlinks to show up using the link: feature on Google. You can be assured that they take all backlinks into account from pages that they index but they never show them to you.
