Google isn't all it's cracked up to be. Google has pages of mine in it's index that I deleted months ago. The exact same pages replaced them(I changed internal directories) in a slightly different location and they remain unindexed. I added a meta refresh in my 404 error page to "get back" my traffic but...

I formerly had a php bulletin board, similar to this one, on my site but hackers took it down resulting in me delting it. The pages containing the dynamic urls, and coincendantly framed pages(deleted even longer ago) that had been spammed(i used a text-filled table covered by a visible blank div), still rank as the best in my site.

If this is any indication of the "relevance" of Google's results I'm switching to Yahoo! for all my web searching. How's the saying go "The bad news Greul for dinner again...the good news There's lots of it!"

I think I know how to spam google too. I call it the candy theory. Googlebot loves spam like a kid loves candy. The parent(the ranking algorithim) knows it's no good for the kid to eat candy(spam) all day long. The parent tries to make poor goolebot eat veggies and other healthy meals(non-spammed webpages). The parent is very busy since there are many little googlebots but I've read that google EVENTUALLY but ALWAYS catches spammers. The parent doesn't notice the unallowed candy consumption until googlebot has a "cavity"(you got flagged as spam) at a dental visit(PR update). So you can spam a page so google eats it up(indexes it and makes it's mysterious googlebot-like observations) and you replace the spammed page with the non-spammed page having the same name and virtual location(now googlebot gets served cavity-preventing veggies when it shows up for candy). You now have a page that will rank well in your site months after you delete it!

They could prevent this type of spam but keeping track of page contents in real time would be impossible, a backlog must always occur and I'm assuming it's about the time between PR updates. They would want to do as many PR updates as possible to always retain the most- relevant index. They also will re-instate you when the offending spam is deleted, which was hopefully before they noticed/took action so it would be a mute point.
