I found a keyword I want to target for my site. It has only 37,000 results total. According to some programs it gets 800 searches a day in yahoo alone. I figure I can get the number one spot. If I made a page and titled it what the keyword is and wrote about it you know added the keywords in the type how long do you think it would take to get to that spot? I mean like what if I got google to index it within 24 hours with the google site maps thing. Would it put me where I would be as soon as it indexed it or how does that work?
Thanks

could be 2 or 3 days may take 3 or 4 weeks, depends on so many things. Using Google's sitemap is no guarantee the page will get in the results instantly

And "only" having 37,000 results does not mean it is easy to get top spot for, it may well be that many of those sites have done the research and the first 20 results are all well optimised pages, in which case it may be as difficult as a page with 5 million results.

One thing to do in this game is never assume anything is an easy target.

Well I will have to give it a try I guess. I figure something with 30k results is easier to get into than a search phrase with 50 million!

I concur. The best thing to do would be optimize properly and then sit back and let time do its job.
