I just created a froogle acount and uploaded my products but I'm really not clear on what the heck froogle is. Does anyone have experience with froogle? I sell gas masks and was doing a search for gas mask and above the organic search results it says 'product search results for gas mask' (I hadn't noticed that before, usually it was google 'images' results with pictures of gas masks there) so I clicked on it and it took me to froogle which listed a bunch of gas masks for sale, down at the bottom of the page it says:

"Froogle does not charge for inclusion in its search results nor accept payment for better placement. To list your products in Froogle, please (click here) to upload your product catalog."

Sounds good so I did. It looks pretty cool, people can search for products and narrow the results by entering a price range and search other categories. But I'm not sure why google would do this for free, do they charge a percentgae of the sale price or something, I tried to read the terms and conditions and it looks like it is a free service but I'm confused, why would they allow a free service when they charge an arm and a leg for adwords?

You know what they say about things that sound too good to be true, I'm just a little skeptical I guess.

Anybody have any experience with froogle? Any input is appreciated.

Froogle is a price engine website launched by Google Inc. It is currently in its development stages. Users can type product queries to return lists of vendors selling a particular product, as well as pricing information. The name "Froogle" is a portmanteau of the word "frugal", which means thrifty, and the name of the company, "Google". Froogle is of course pronounced the same as frugal.

yes, I gathered as much but if its not organic and relies on submissions (you have to upload your feed every 30 days) why is it free? Googles main objective these days seems to be making money for google and their investors and not providing free listings for advertisers so I guess I'm wondering what the catch is.

Sounds really good and I'm not complaining I'm just skeptical I guess. If it really is the greatest thing since sliced bread does anyone have any tips for using froogle?

It's another useful tool to attract more users - and of course they make a profit... a good one at that. The ads down the side!

Yes, l my ads show up there too, they show up there anyway whether or not someone is in the froogle search or google search. I don't why I'm having a hard time understanding this. it says froggle is still in beta so maybe they are going to charge for inclusion later, I just don't see google doing anything for free, other than the coveted free organic search listings of course, froogle though is a medium that you can include your lisintgs for free, it doesn't make sense to me.
