I had no idea PR was updating. I haven't seen any changes on my site yet. Thanks. Also the backlinks haven't quite settled yet, so I'm assuming the same is for the PR.

saw the changes in the backlinks. Got the 3 new added to my backlinks bank.

So, what are these backlinks? I thought they were links to your site. When I checked, all the google data centres showed backward links of 0. And after almost a year of being hosted, my site has moved from PR0 to pR1. I was so happy until I discovered all other sites had moved from pr0 o pr4 - pr5 etc.

It does not show all but some subset of backlinks.

PR 1 is not a very difficult thing to have

Get more backlinks and you should be going up in PR.

What do you think would be the best way to increase backlinks, link trading with other related sites via sites like linkalizer.com or submitting one's site to directories. In this too, should I submit my site to all directories listed by Pdawan or only travel related directories. Could you please advise me.

Submit to the list given by Padawan. Submit to all directories. You see, there is travel section in every directories.

Write & submit articles too. I realised submitting articles to GoArticles.com, EzineArticles can be good enough.

If you can write or commission a good press release and have $60-80 to spend then try prweb.com. That will do absolute wonders for you in terms of exposure and could potentially bag you a hatful of incoming links.

If you need a press release written I believe zman on this very forum has the resources to help you.

I am not a very firm believer of Link exchange and the best way to get the backlinks are submit them manually to directories. may be 1 per day will also help more than you expect

Submit the sites to all the possible directories you find where there are travel related section.
