I've been a member of, and have visited many SEO forums, and have discovered
that the whole SEO crowd tends to be a bit... ah, anal retentive. I worked for one
for about 6 months, and really truely couldn't stand the guy (****, I WAS one).
I found that working in that industry made me a bitter, unhappy person who
absolutely couldn't stand to go home at night and even look at my PC.

Also, people in the SEO industry will literally fight tooth and nail over what most
people would consider a worthless topic. If I went onto one of those forums
and started talking about how keyword density is dead, and good writing is everything,
I'd probably get heckled and lambasted to death.

Just imagine... life without google (and to think google only came about 7 years ago)

I agree, the problem, at least in my eyes, is that there are no real hard facts for anyone to base their beliefs on. There are only assumptions and emotions.

I have a friend that did a bit of research (nevermind the fact that he's a mathematical genius)
and a bit of conniving as well, and now has more hard facts than any search engine marketer
on the planet. Everything he touches gets to #1 and stays there.
But, when he tries to go on one of those communities and post his findings, he's shot down
by the people who are positive of their own techinques.
I fear that SEO has and always will be a form of snake oil.

Nice information in the pdf but I could not figure out what helped him to be on top and remain there.

what's on the site right now is basically what he's willing to share (at the moment) the site is
in 'beta' so to speak, so he has actually blacked out the greenbuilt site from any listings at all.

I'll repost in a few months when all his stuff is up and running - all I can tell you right now is
that he knows someone at... well, shut my mouth

SEO is incredible based on rumour it so often I see people just post things without any information or example to themself up. Also the other problem is because everyone has something to sell, newsletter are the worst they publish article as fact then sell a product directly below it.

I don't blame your friend from keeping some information back. Paranoid is essential in this field test everything for yourself.

I had a look at Greenbuild site and it nice, but their hardly anything ground shaking their.
