What's going on with Google?

It's now the 31st December, and thus the next crawl should have been all but compiled by now.

The next crawl usually shows up on www2.google.com and www3.google.com before going into the actual google.com main index. However, searching on these two servers produces exactly the same results as the main one.

You can check this by doing a cross-server check using the Google Dance Tool

The tool shows that the results are exactly the same for Google as they are for Google2 and Google3.

Can anyone offer any sort of explanation for why things aren't changing how they should be? Has Google got smart to us using their extra servers and has now pulled the plug and is testing some other way?

I'm not sure whats happening. I certainly got crawled on the 7th, and probably again on the 19th.

Interestingly, the cached version of my site is:
2002-12-26 02:47:12

Perhaps they are confident of their new index now and don't make it available to the public. Or maybe there is very lile

there should be at least some change...i should have some vastly improved rankings in some areas.

incidently, how do you find out at what time and on what date your site was cached? this could prove useful to me in updating content on my site...

thanks

I can not really say WHY they have not updated, I think they WILL at least by the first week in January. I heard DMOZ was having trouble doing an RDF dump (or something like that) of there new listings to google so maybe google was waiting to see if that got fixed.

(Listings fluctuate often because of the freshbot and other reasons, but that does not always mean the actual, FULL update had begun).

To check to see when when the actual update begins, you can check the number of backlinks to Yahoo.

Go to www.Google-Dance.com
Type in: "link:yahoo.com" (without the quotes)
Put the last dropdown to - in: "standard"

You will see that it shows 632,000 on all three servers (at the moment). When these start to differ accross the 3 servers, the update has begun

May it will sart today ?!

the dance has begun!!

I've been onto google-dance today, and noticed that one of my rankings has changed (-2places, but hey, still a first page - and not one of my targetted keywords).

The links to yahoo.com have dropped from 632000 to just 4900, showing that the index is obviously not complete as yet.

expect updates to that figure, and to the rankings of the pages, over the next day, or possibly two.

The new index will almost certainly be live by Monday at the very latest.

Good Luck Everyone!!
