I want to increase Google backlinks? I have been submitting to web directories and social bookmarking sites for years.
However, I just checked google backlinks but I don't see the increase.
What should I do to increase Google backlinks?

Link counting is not something that is going to tell you anything useful.

Google is NOT going to return all your links neither, is it liely to return the links that "count". IF ANYTHING it will show the ones that DO NOT count. Because if you knew the "useful" ones, you would try to get more of them, and so would the "competition".

Just create content worth linking to, and forget about "building" backlinks!

Which tool you used to check baclinks of your website ?

If you configured the webmaster tools account for your website, go login and check the listed backlinks there.

Have you considered actually "creating" something useful that
people will want to link to?

If you can post on a forum like this, you can also write a blog article.

I think it is really important to create a unique content. I mean text or photo. Or even both this will help google to see you faster and more people will come to you. In this way you will have additional backlinks also!

Please, please, please WHEN are you going to learn that no matter what you do Google will NEVER, EVER show all the links to your pages that they know about and have indexed.

Blogs,forums,articles and social bookmarking are good source of Google backlinks.

Its may effective but for new sites especially with no PR hard to get link partners and need to keep relevancy and many more.. Also One way link is the better choice than 2,3 way.....

Make sure your backlink that you submit on site which is dofollow and the site is index.
If the site is nofollow link and no index, then your backlink might not calculate or might not useful for SEO purpose.
You should try on forum posting, blog comment . But most important is try to submit more article & blog guest post which are the strong backlink you need.

From which source did you check your backlinks? Ahrefs.com is best source to check backlinks.
There are allot of link building techniques like forums posting, blog commenting, articles directories, press release sites, social book marking. All are best of page seo techniques to get backlinks.
