Does the PR remain?

Hi i have snapped a PR9 domain and i wonder if the PR will remain or if it will be deleted. I would also like to have some appreciation about the value of a PR9 domain.

It will remain if the backlinks remain but dont only depend on the backlinks that are there but also go for getting some fresh links also.

It was metaworks.net pending delete but when it was 5 days until it expired the PR was deleted.

I have followed some domains for a while now and it looks like the pagerank is deleted from the domains. It really sucks yes.
