This mythical area is for new sites, right? What about sites that have been around for many years and undergo major changes? I did an overhaul on graphics-based FrontPage site and moved it to another server. The previous site ranked about 500 for the targeted keyword, but after the move, disappeared completely. The site shows up in a specific search and is completely indexed. It also shows up in the top 20 for most of the other major engines. So, my theory based on this is that new name servers are thrown into the sandbox, not new domains. Any thoughts?

I think that is very possible. I have had suspicions about this for a while.

this is really making me mad reading about all this... google thinks this is going to help control spam? heh maybe but its hard to run a business when it takes a year for google to rank your site..

Think i have an understanding of this now.

Best explaination i have heard is that just over a year ago the index became full. The majority of New sites after March dont get in the index until one drops out and get moved to the suplemental index (which joe public dont use) . Hence the sandbox effect. The spider still visits but once its established you are in the other index it continues to add you in it. You also get a useless page rank as its counts for nothing!

Until google fix this capacity problem, current quality sites wont get in unless very lucky

Conclusion of this is that Googles current serps are more and more out of date each day and this is why you see very little movement in any of the google SERPS.

Good luck all with this, but this is about the best explaination i have seen.

At least one saving grace, if this proves to be right, MSN will take googles market share quicker than expected. Google users i speak to are already finding the results outdated, these numbers will just grow.

I think its about time Google did something about this capacity problem before its to late.
