Right girls & Boys,

I have a site www.forecourtsonline.co.uk I was aproached by another site to add a link to them which I thought was a good idea at the time.

before I added thier link, a search on google using the term " cars sale swansea area " resulted in www.forecourtsonline.co.uk placed number one.

Now they the site I gave link to are number one and I am down the page some!!!!!!

Please help me sort this out as I feel like a fool now.

Just one link cannot make such a difference but what I think is they approached you for a backlink and so they might have approached amny others for the same and as google has more weight on back link so they have moved above you. Your single link cannot make a difference of many places on google's SERP's but is the cumulative effect.

But how do I undo the mistake. I have removed his link but it has made no difference

Only time will undo it. Unfortunatly until Google does another update your stuck, at least with those results. Personaly I would start optimizing more for the new MSN beta search. I have noticed that their results are much fresher than googles.

The best way to do that is to get the links from the sites where he also has a backlinks and compete with him. You also must start approaching the webmasters for the same as he has done it.

royston, your one link probably didnt really help your competition THAT much...
