Monkey, could be that most of your backlinks are from low PR pages, or/and that there are lots of links on the pages linking to yours (so the PR gets diluted).

normally id listen to this train of thought, but the more and more i compare backlinks to pr there really just isnt much of a correlation. for example here is my mothers site using that tool. she actually had a pr 5 before the recent pr changes.
