I've been tracking the keywords that people use to find my site , and they are:

tube baits
tube bait
bait buster
buster
tube lures
spider jigs
hawg caller
bait
gitzit
bass bait
hawg
largemouth bass
flashabou manufacturer
bait buster lure
bait buster lures
topwater tube bait
hawg lures
www.hawgbuster.com

That last one is because of me.

Now when I check those most of them don't land me in the top 20 of google search. So they must be pretty popular keywords for me to still get a few visitors from them.

I want to get in the top 10 of google's search for Tube Bait(s), Spider Jigs, Bait(s), and Bass Lures. Bass Lures isn't on my top 20 but I would like to get that one.

Any suggestions welcome. thanks

Google Rankings 101:

If you want a high ranking for any keyword, here are some tips to pay attention to...

1. Keyword in page file name.
2. Keyword in the title.
3. Keyword in a meta tag.
4. Keyword in the body text.
5. Keyword in link anchor text.
6. Keyword in linked destination page name.
7. Keyword in a picture file name.
8. Keyword in picture ALT text.
9. Keyword in the site URL
Probably missing a few...

I find the most important are having the keyword in the Title, visible text, and link URL text.

Only target one or two keywords per page.

Well following the Google Rankings 101, I think most of my pages are on par. I just hope I'm not missing something before the next google dance. I pride myself as being a patient person but this SEO stuff sends me into an anxiety attack.

particularly worth getting keywords into title; google weighs title heavily.
but everywhere really, get them into image filenames, alt tags etc. as well as the other obvious places.

maybe use Overture.com's Search Suggestions Tool to see what your key words/phrases actually should be i.e. put in one and Overture will suggest other popular related search terms.
