New to webmastering.. trying to get a site/business going. Trying to get as much info about moving up in the search engines...

First of all, is "poker chip set" and "poker chip sets" the same term to the search engine?
I've been trying to optimize my main page - www.holdemcrew.com - for the term "poker chip sets" since using plural seems to fit the english better. "Poker chip set" gets a ton of searches...

2ndly, how long does it take google to update? Most search engines have me down for at least 10 inbound links... where google finally gave me 2 links and has been stuck there ever since. Does google still do their monthly "dance"? I've been trying to get information on the last time google has danced, but it seems people are saying that it is more of a nonstop operation these days.

How long does it normally take to finally get a page rank? Seems like I should have at least a PR of 1 by now. I know that http://www.pagat.com/vying/poker.html is linking to me.. which is a PR of 5. I also have other decent sites linking in. Pay per click is destroying my budget ... need free traffic.

Google does not show all the backlinks in the link: command.

You already have one but you cant see as you know this.

Google is treating them the same. plurals or not.

- your site should have a decent PR. Having linked to from other sites help, but fundamentally every page created in yr site generates a certain amount of Page Rank. So, if you have a decent amount of pages, your site PR should be reasonably ok too.

and Snowblind, quit irritating me and asking for evidence for every thing I mentioned.

use Wordtracker for your keyword research, keep in mind, dont write just for engines, like you said before, "since using plural seems to fit the english better" then use it that way in your content, if you want to use the singular "poker chip set" place that as a link towards the top of your site, point it to an image of the product or a description.

Google Updating (crawls)
This depends mainly on 3 items

Activity/Content Updates to your website. (Google loves fresh new content to crawl)
Linking structure (internal on your site, make sure your links are valid and easy to crawl)
Incoming links (The more the better, submit to directories etc)

It is easier to go from PR 0 to 1 than 1 to 2, which is easier than 2 to 3, etc right? So where can I reasonably expect to be after they finally update? I have maybe 10-15 quality links coming in.. ranging in PR from about 2 to 5. I assume that is easily enough to get me a PR of 1. Will that get me a 3? a 4? Seems like a lot of sites have a PR of 4 without having a whole lot of links.. etc.

Free Poker Chip Set

I guess you are too over concern about the green bar in your browser but its just a very small part of the algo. It hardly matters when you are having 15 incoming links or 30 but matters when you have good quality content and people madly links to the content.
