Hi all,
Ive spent a long time building content and marketing for a job website
http://www.redgoldfish.co.uk in fact its currently taking my life over!
I caught the back end of the last google update and had a PR5 given to the home page for what its worth. Since then i have been building the content up. I think i over cooked the use of the word "Job" on my home page as obviously all my sectors relate to types of Job and think Google has nailed me to the wall for it. I have improved my home page since.
My site doesnt list on google (well not in the first million pages anyway!) yet i believe i have built up fantastic content and have through a lot of hard word managed to get about 2000 web sites linking to the site.
Meanwhile the new MSN beta site is having a field day listing the site and im showing good rankings in that search engine.
I currently get about 1000 hits from google a day, some days more, so its clearly doing something on my site, so far this month over 40,000 hits from it, yet no change in my position.
Please comment on my chain of thought here:-
1. Im thinking that the despite google taking information every day, it doent do anything with it until a major update - guess once a quarter
2. Google favours old established websites and rewards them more than new ones
3. It only likes sites with with volumes of links
4. If your not in DMOZ (which im still waiting for over 6 mths to get in) you are unlikely to feature anywhere
And finally, if you over cook your key words even by mistake google holds no prisoners.
Any thoughts from anyone here as to the above and what you think i should try next would be appreciated
Thanks in advance
Rich
