Ms. Marissa Meyer, the vice-president of search products and user experience of Google in the Web 2.0 conference at San Francisco announced that Google would soon be launching a new experiment that
would be very different in the Google Labs.Users would now be able to use social search to find friends. Users would need to be logged into a Google profile in order to use the new launch that is the social search. Google will suggest the user with connections to those users who are publicly available in the social network and would also try to crawl through your Gmail accounts if the users you select also have a Gmail account.
what is ur opinion about it?

I think there is already a few hundred sites doing this.

It should be good as you can stay connected with everybody even though they are on different social networks but as mentioned by bompa, this is not something new as this concept has been developed by others before.

It's a big step for Google as their are trying to make Google as one place for services most internet users looking for.

Since Social Media is gaining so much popularity and Google just want to take the benefits out of that, now you can search any thing from your Social media network.It will surly be popular

Most of Social Media site nowadays uses this thing. I dont think its a good Idea. they will crawl your gmail to get the email add of your friends. I skipped this step when registering to social media site.

However many sites doing this but you can expect better from google as there are large umbers of search engine but Google is always the best.

I agree with mate same thing is done by many site.
