1. Increase your backlinks. Get links from PR4 & 5 pages.
While you do it, make sure that your internal pages also get some links. Do not concentrate on homepage links alone.
2. Submit your url to dmoz for a review. If get into it, you get a good PR.

If your interested in raising your PR then consider purchasing text links on websites with a PR 5 or above. You can pick up PR5 text links for $10-20 per month . You also need to ask yourself whether or not PR is actually worth anything? Just because you increase your PR does not necessarily mean you will see an increase in visitors.

You will have PR on the next public update. You must have missed the cutoff for the last PR update - you will be waiting until jan 6 if paterns hold. (I hope it is sooner)

There is so much valuble information out there on PR. I have read and read and read and read. The problem is everyone has a different opinion. I suggest reading as much as you can and then just trying out differnet methods. When you find a method that works SELL THAT METHOD You will get PR. It just takes time. Have you been doing any unethical SEO techniques? That could be why you don't have any PR. Not saying you are just trying to give some info.

From Googleguy himself:
Quote:
I understand if people think that discerning fine levels of granularity of PageRank are fun; I just think there's better ways to spend your time. I don't think much about PageRank these days--that's why I wasn't even positive whether eight was the maximum value over in the directory. I'd recommend things like log analysis, keyword research, spending time developing new content that targets new phrases instead of one single glory or vanity keyword phrase, reading new papers, or spending time on non-SEO things like the family, pets, etc.
PR has very little effect on the rankings. You should concentrate on keyword-relevant back links to your site, as this is what is going to bring in the hits - not a green bar.

The more links the better. Don't be scared to ask for a link from a low-PR site.

As snowblind said,
SERPs are more important than the PR.

Get the visitors first. Try to convince them that your site content is worth linking to. You get the visitor + a link (if you have conviced them well)

Not only concentrate on homepage linking alone. Try some deep linking referals from other sites.

Agreed. If you have great content, then everything else will follow. People will link to a site with good content and so the PR will go up eventually. So don't worry to much about making PR and instead spend time improving your content and adding new pages.

You should try and get links by hand, as well as hoping people will link to you for having quality content. Afterall, you could have the best content in the world but no one would link to you if they haven't seen it.

Methodman, you'll have a PR at the next update as long as sites are linking to you. That's simply all it takes for you to get somewhere above PR 0. PR 0 pretty much allows Google to identify your site as either brand new, dead, or severely penalized.

This is, of course, assuming you didn't do anything to actually get yourself penalized.

As others have said, PR is not the be-all and end-all, but it is still important (moreso than some give credit these days). If it is not important for your ranking in Google, it is still important because A) it is reflective of how many sites link to you (which will, in turn, get you more traffic) and B) it will allow you to move higher up in the DMOZ by their default descending PR sort setting.

It is not a reflection of how many sites link to you. It is a reflection of how many VS their pagerank VS how many links are on that page. PR alone does not bring you traffic - and just because you have a high PR it does not mean you get a lot of traffic.

It does not move you higher up in the DMOZ directory by any means. It is the Google directories default - not DMOZ. Just because they use Dmoz data (as hundreds, possibly thousands of other websites do) it does not mean this is the DMOZ order.

Finally, if you feel your website has been penalized, email Google. They may not give you an exact response but they should give a hint (ie, review the Webmaster Info).
