but you don't rank as the first result for your own domain name, which isn't unusual in the beginning so don't panic. To fix this you will simply need more backlinks that don't have anchor text. This will be so you can outrank the Yahoo answers pages you are ranking on. After you become number 1 for your domain name then you can continue to build anchor texts of actual keywords.

This is just my opinion: Your blog doesn't have much space for the article, I had a hard time reading. Hope you'd widen the section where your articles are posted, because they are interesting, the ads are making them less noticeable.

Depends how long your blog has been live. Google can take up to 3 months before they allow your site to appear in their index.
I would recommend signing up with Google sitemaps. You can get a little bit of code there to add to your site which gets your site indexed quickly and visited regularly.
Also, you could go to a service which "pings" each of your blog posts. In other words tells the search engines to come and have a look.

Get some backlinks, submit a sitemap to Google (if you used WordPress, you could use the plugin that will automatically maintain a sitemap for you) and ping a handful of services. I have a list of you're interested.
Dunno bout you guys. What i usually do is go thru a simple straight foward method...Submit blog with Google webmaster tools, verify it and then ping my blog..Works all the time..BTW not to mention a well optimized post/article as well. I'll usually do the backlinks later.

This always works for me, too. I've never had to wait at all to have my sites or content indexed.
you need to get backlinks from high pr web sites.for that social bookmarking can help you a lot.you can also create profile in social sites to generate more traffic.
Yes do the directory submission, book marking of your blog and participation in forum and blog will improve your search engine position.
But most first thing is you need to do continuous update in your blog it will help you a lot.
