Hello All,
I have recently completed changed our company's website and deleted almost every page and started again. The finished article is now complete and i have submitted a sitemap.txt to google for it to search through our pages again, how ever after doing this several days ago, the google search still gives us the old links. Any ideas as to what i can do?
The GoogleBot says that it has 'successfully accessed your home page on Mar 16, 2008' but not updated any of our pages on the google search.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Remember that Google has multiple data centers. Only one of them has likely crawled your updated page, and it will take a while for the caches in its variours data centers to refresh themselves with the new content. It has only been 4 days, and it could easily take a couple of weeks. Submitting an up to date site-map to google would also probably help the proccess move quicker.

Are the pages you deleted 301 or 404?

psamatt first of all if you just deleted your old pages and your new site has different page names or is structured differently than the old site you should do the following

1. Check for old indexed page site:www.yoursite.com
2. Permanantly redirect old pages to new pages (301)
3. Create a 404 catchall page rather than a page not found error.

Please reply with the name of your site.

as has been said when i completely did a site i now have a htaccess full of 301 redirects form the old pages to a ne "version" of that page, i also have a error page (whcih covers ALL error codes) so i get a email every time someone gets a 404 )
