• Almost none, because I'm hosted on WordPress.com subdomain and they don't let me change my site
• I try to use titles that are appropriate to my posts - but a lot of the time that means goofy ones that aren't keyword laden, so they read like they're part of the post.
• I don't use heading tags even tho I should for SEO, because I tend to write in a stream of consciousness format. It's how I think so it's how I best express my thoughts. (Think Ulysses, Steppenwolf, On The Road, and most raps by Ghostface Killah, Das EFX and Kool Keith.)

Topical Relevance - how everybody's just supposed to pick a niche topic and that's all their blog can be about

• Science
• Pre History and Evolution
• Modern War
• Terrorism and Torture
• Computer Programming in SQL and .NET
• Funny stuff
• Interesting thoughts that hold my attention

I'm not trying to monetize my blog in any way shape or form. My goal for it is to express the thoughts that run through my head and don't just vanish as quickly as they came. For a sort of catharsis and to get smart people to comment on the more interesting ones. I think my site has been an resounding success in those terms.

It's also got better PageRank than a lot of them, even if I don't have a clue how that happened. People must like the stuff I'm writing an link to it, since that's all that's a part of the PR formula.

Why am I posting this? Well, since there are so many questions about how to raise your PR, and the smart people with experience always give the same advice about write for humans and such - well, this validates their advice.

Wow - I can sell text links now. This is like a license to print money. Only printing money leads to inflation then you're back where you started. I actually spend hours (not every night, but in total) looking for things to link out to. I basically write about stuff that catches my interest, so when another person does a better job, or finds a topic that's off my radar, but it's the kind of stuff I would write about, I figure that's something my readers like, or they wouldn't be on my blog. I know out links aren't part of the PR equation, but they're part of quality.

Honestly I have no idea how I gathered enough links for a PR 4. I haven't even done directories - I did back when I had my own domain name (donated domain plus donated hosting) just because that's kind of what people do and I wanted to get a taste for it. But with my new site, all i've done is write about things that vex me, and sit back to let it work or not work.

Nah, but since Google is a American company and mine is an American web site, that explains why they're punishing Adam the Canadian with a lower PR score than mine. Google is probably punishing his Alexa score for living in a different country, too.
