Gather more backlinks (high PR site is better) to increase your PR. But for me, SERP is the most important.

Backlinks are the key. But also use anchor text in the backlinks.

For example...

Google

The word 'Google' is the anchor text, substitute that for keywords that you think others might use to bring your site up in the results.

Okay since PR is really an issue for the OP, you could also try participating in dofollow forums, blogs, or submitting to directories, etc. Their value is very low but they sum up. Overtime those pages you participate in or submitted to might have higher PR in the future.

You can also look for expired domains with PR and buy it.

One of the best way to rank your website higher in google is to have a high page rank. To get a higher page rank you need to link to high page ranks. A good site to link would < self promo link drop removed > they offer pr8 for basically 5 bucks. I have 2 websites linking to them already.

What a waste of money. First, PR is useless. Second, if he (or you) is performing an "experiment", why does it cost money? Third, PR is useless. Fourth, if you pay money for that and provide a link to that site, what would you be getting in return? He would get multiple unique links while you would be getting a link on a page with multiple links. You're NOT buying a PR8. Fifth, PR is useless. Sixth, give your entire $5 to charity...at least you'll actually be giving the money to something worthwhile. Sixth, PR is useless. Seventh, why would linking to a high PR site help your site? Finally, in conclusion, PR is useless.

A more likely possibility is that linking to a site that blatantly sells PR will have totally the opposite effect.

Write good quality content and people will naturally want to link to you. There are lots of ways to increase pr but there really are no shortcuts.

Mr.Cat has some fantastic points. I suggest you follow them.
There are a lot of black hat methods such as referrer spamming and stuff.. While it may get you a nice PR, there is a higher probability that THE ALMIGHTY ( Google in this case) will find out :P

But the best way that you can do this is being linked to high PR sites, even if you have to pay for it.
