But Alexa rankings has increased from 5k to 3k. Should I be happy?. Shouldnt traffic helps to increase PR? Please do Suggests.

Doesn't matter either way, neither is any use for traffic, visitors or sales.

Google PR and Alexa are used by potential advertisers [in some cases] to determine whether or not a site is worthy of advertising dollars. These indicators though appearing to be faulty, can have an affect on advertising sales.

Alexa is probably the most useless and inaccurate metric around. It can easily be manipulated, so don't base any of your strategies off Alexa metrics. The only cases where it is even close to accurate are the very highest-ranking sites.

chrishirst said it all, traffic does'nt help to increase PR and a higher alexa ranking (or PR for that matter) means nothing for traffic, visitors or sales.
