I found this advice about potentially getting into Google Images. They send me substantially more traffic than the web search, so it's probably worth checking out.

That's great. Adding description through Alt attribute and also adding a title to an image really hepful.

Adding a descriptive names and using an alt attribute on images help to get traffic from Google image search.

Very good info Forrest. I've always gotten a (what did Adam call it?...oh yeah) a buttload of traffic from google images. I didn't make a conscious effort to get the traffic - just used realistic alt attributes and over time the traffic grew to a very respectable level...
