Dear all,
is there and easy way for, say, the owner of a car selling website to see where his/her site ranks in google for given keywords, provided by him/her? Say he/she wanted to see where his/her site ranked for "used cars". How is this easiest done? What if you wanted to check ten or more quickly?

Any advice appreciated.

Rank checking is truly a useless metric.

Why We Say PageRank or Rankings Don't Matter

checking the rank of the targeted keyword is somewhat useless in a way. But, for those people who is so eager to know what is the status of their keyword in SERPs, there is no problem with it. If it also included in your work, then it is a must. My suggestion on checking the ranking of the keyword is by using gahoogle.com...
I think there is no easy way to check, it the usual way that once the keyword is entered, you manually check its position in SERPs. I suggest gahoogle because it lets you use yahoo and google in a split screen. yahoo and google therefore is the most common SE we use.

Thanks all,
I now see that it is a bit useless, but gahoogle looks interesting.

And look who's back with more useless commentary! Man, you TV Addicts aren't very good at covering your tracks.

Foundationflash: rank checking isn't a bit useless, it's completely useless. With different datacenters, different servers, geotargeting, and personalization, the results can vary quite widely in a lot of cases.

If you want to find out how well you rank for a term and whether or not it's worth it to rank for the term, check your site stats. You'll see all sorts of search engine referrals (if your site's good enough) and you'll know from it whether or not people are visiting your site via SERPs.

That's because TV makes people dumb.

Ignore the high tech mumbo jumbo. Even if you rank for a term - which Adam is right in pointing out that now you see it now you don't - that doesn't mean people will click your site instead of the other results.

Um guys.. I think you all lose track. He was asking a position checker for his keywords and yet you kept on insisting PR rankings... Hehe...

Positioning is the main purpose of having an SEO specialist. Why does huge companies are kept on hiring specialist for their sites? It is because they want to be on the top. They want to take over and eliminate competition. That's the main purpose of doing SEO.

You guys are correct on the part of PR. PR nowadays doesn't have a great impact on SEO specialist. You can't earn more money on having high PRs, right?? But you can earn money in having large amount of traffics coming from referrals of the top search engines out there.
