That being said, I've look around for a solution that will allow me to use spreadsheets right from my website. I found a few, but most of them charge hundreds to thousands of dollars for the software.

Are there any open source projects out there that will allow me to have web server based spreadsheets?

Embedding spreadsheets in a web app is hard. I'm not surprised people want to be compensated for their work.

Besides, with Google offering this for free, they'll soon dominate the world.

The problem with google docs is that it is hosted on their server. I want this for my website/server.
