I am very new to using databases in my websites and would like to get some info.
Does anyone know of somewhere where I can get some info on integrating databases into websites, info thats quick and easy to learn. I dont have alot of time and need to learn this ASAP.
well don't actually know yet. hosting plan using at the moment only supports Linux\MySql but I might be changing over to a different host if needed. Which would be the best and/or easiest???
MySQL is great, its not that hard to learn. It will take you alot of time to get the PHP and SQL languages down pat, but you might be able to make it depending on what excactly you want to do with the database.
If your trying to build a database driven site, sitepoint makea great book about it. (http://www.sitepoint.com/books/phpmysql1/) the book covers everything from installing PHP and MySQL on a linux/windows box or a Mac. It then goes into basic PHP and then basics of MySQL. By the time you finish the book you will be able to create database driven websites, custom carts, login scripts and a whole lot more about PHP and MySQL.
http://www.w3schools.com is a great place to learn as well, especially if you don't want to buy the sitepoint book (even though I like it :P)
