What do you mean by "old database"?
You truncated a table, you deleted a table, you lost a backup, the server crashed, the table got corrupted ?

And what db are you talking about? Oracle, Sql Server, postgresql, sqlite, mysql, firebird, db2 ?

If you changed hosts and DIDN'T take a backup then ...

... it's gone!

Yup most of the time if you lose a database and your host doesn't automatically backup the databases periodically for you then it is gone.

Try to do periodic backups every to every other week.

your host should have backed up your files. most hosts keep the backups for about 60 days after your account is suspended in case you want to buy it back. so if it's that important, you should contact your host to see if they still have your backup.

hosts should provide daily backup as well, but most hosts delete those after the next backup.

You should contact your hosting provider and ask him to restore the latest backup of your site.

If your old account is canceled already, you may need to pay re-activation fee, so find out of backup is still available before paying re-activation fee
