first of all Hi and helpful looking site hence why I'm here

second, I am NO code writer, I can if told where and what but beyond that forget it.

OK question. I'm trying to install PHP message boards (phpBB 3) onto my server (yahoo) all is well Iv'e followed the instructions laid out here http://www.phpbb.com/support/documen...tall&version=3

I have mysql database installed and I'm going through the motions on the install pages of the phpBB. When I get to the 'Create database tables' page it comes up with
A fatal and unrecoverable database error has occurred. This may be because the specified user does not have appropriate permissions to CREATE TABLES or INSERT data, etc. Further information may be given below. Please contact your hosting provider in the first instance or the support forums of phpBB for further assistance.

and tells me at the bottom of all that that I have the access is denied for me, the user to database 'mysql.

when I look on the phpMyAdmin 2.6.3-pl1 (which is what I have to use on yahoo) and then under 'priviliges' (excuse spelling bit tired and ratty) it shows me my username and under the GRANT box NO. ie I don't seem to have any priviliges on my own db.

Can anyone help me either get some priviliges or tell me where I'm going wrong.

Many thanks in advance, I really hope to learn more about this web hosting lark from here.

I have more or less sussed this out but will be hanging around here for help and tips

No matter what the control panel the process is about the the same.

Create a DB, create a user and password, add (give access) to the user to the DB with all priveleges.

With most hosting accounts the info you enter in the config file or install program for the script then looks like this with the { } omitted
database name takes the form {username_DBname}
usernmame for the database takes the form {username_dbuser}
password = {password}
db host or host is usually { localhost}

Thought at godaddy, Dreamhost and a few others it takes the form {mysql.somename.com}

Did that help either one of you.

Actually I've solved this one through much mooching about and swearing.

I noticed there was another acount name (I asume some kind of default) that had all the privaliges. So I gave it a password, signed in and gave myself the remaining privaliges.

Though I will be looking at your solution as I appriciate the need for more knowledge
