I've played around with it a bit, but I prefer the simplicity of MySQL for unique keys. Anyways, if you want to code for a PostgreSQL platform and don't want to learn about PostgreSQL, then just use Metabase. It has a few disadvantages, but it's ability to be cross platform is really amazing. I would suggest you check it out.

I do.
In fact, I use more and more postgres and sqlite, and I tend to stop using mysql.

I like the way pg (postgres) works, and as I work with oracle at work, I find back some really handful functions.

Compiled procedures (I would love packages, but..), triggers, foreign keys, sequences...

It seems a bit more robust too, but tends to use more memory for each connection from what I have sen until now.

I see. As far as speed, is it any better than mysql?

I work with oracle some time (i think that is the best database system), and posgress is the more siimilar, the procedures, triggers, foreign keys and more is simimilar, but mysql get this features some time ago, and work fine.
In order to speed, in select statemens, mysql is better!! (really, sqlite is better, but less robust).

sqLite is really neat.
I only have used it in some project, for caching generated xml/xsl or such, but I really like it...
