According to their website, v4.0 is the latest stable release, although they do recommend using v4.1 for "new development." Personally, I never get anything other than the latest stable release, but it's a personal choice about whether or not you want to go with 4.1. My philosophy is that you can always upgrade later once a new stable release is identified.
v5.0 is currently strictly a development platform used to test new and emerging features.
