I don't like the SitePoint integration. First off, I've always liked Webmaster-Talk for its independence, and the fact that it is an alternative marketplace for my webmaster needs.

Personally, I hate SitePoint - I've hated it ever since they've started charging and since then statistically it has been going downhill. I feel that the integration Webmaster-Talk has recently added for the latest SitePoint auctions, etc, only brings down this community.

Why would you have our members here look at a "competitor's" site? Surely you risk losing members, posts, etc. I hate it...

I think it's a bad idea.

Webmaster-Talk.com is still an alternative Marketplace. Our listings don't get displayed on their website and our Marketplace is pretty active. In fact they may be a little more active than before we started adding the Syndicated listings.

So in other words, you don't like the fact that we have syndicated links to a community you no longer like because they started charging for listings.

That's fair enough. I don't like paying for things either. But they are running a business and their paid marketplace is still very, very active (albeit DP is kicking everyone's butt now).

Is the simple act that we link out to a forum you don't like reason enough to have you leave WT? I hope not. We not only don't charge for listings in our marketplace, we also share ad revenue. Webmaster-Talk.com is 100% free and then some.

Sure we might lose a few members and posts but it goes both ways. Everyone who buys a listing in SP's paid marketplace (which is still very active) sees a link to our free marketplace. Than can syndicate the SP thread here or just add a new thread to our forums themselves.

Again, I am sorry you don't like us linking to SP listings but at this moment I don't have plans to remove them.

I don't see how Webmaster Talk benefits. I don't see them linking back.

They link to us from each of their "create a listing" pages in their marketplace (happens to be 8 of them). So it is seen by anyone adding a listing into their marketplace. We are listed as an upgrade option. They have 143k members (not all active obviously) so it still gets seen by quite a bit of SP members every day. While I don't hate SP like you do, I don't do it just to be nice. It's something we are just trying out for a bit.

I think a partnership with DP or DN Forum would've been better, and it's about time you've added the iTrader function. It's a shame though, I must've done over 50 transactions here all 100% positive but never did get feedback because it didn't exist.
