what's up with signature links?

what's up with signature links? - why are they displaying as text with brackets in my sig when they work fine in other people's sigs. do i need to earn a certain amount of talkupation before my links show, or do i need to make a certain amount of posts or something?

*very confused*

*EDIT* They're now showing in this post! did i reach the necessary level of something? (I'm still eager for an explanation)

in the Relevant Link Exchange Forum, links are not allowed as people were doing a lot of link dropping. As a result, your links are converted to text. You'll notice in all other forums everything should look OK.

thanks for the explo Anacrusis. certainly clears up a very confusing matter. maybe you should have an FAQ section about this as i couldn't find one.
