When we are looking for moderators, we look for users who contribute to the forums (which shows us their level of knowledge) and show traits that we look for (ie. civility, communication skills etc).

We consider everyone

I can be civil as long as everyone just shuts the **** up and doesn't say anything stupid. Can I be a mod?

When we're looking to add Mods, you'll see a note somewhere about it (usually a small line in my sig or in another Admin's sig).

Also, when we do look, we do take note of past actions of those that volunteer. For example, we have a zero profanity rule. So using profanity in a post doesn't do anything good for being considered.
